Since it's been a while for reviews here, sharing our experience at the end of February for a 2 night stay.
Overall, a phenomenal experience if you go in with proper expectations. Our rate was $170/night, all inclusive, for two (with a SET chainwide discount). Definitely not a good point redemption value if you can get a rate like this. But, with a price like this, you need to understand that you're not going to a high end resort.
Our checkin experience was excellent - you have to go through the resort complex guard station (not well signed that this is where you go for Sheraton), then the Sheraton's guard station, where they confirm you are on the reservation list. They radioed ahead and the Guest Experience Manager (Masiel) greeted us by name.
As a platinum, we were upgraded to an oceanfront junior suite - maybe 30 feet from the palapas on the quiet end of the waterfront. The room in general could use some repairs, but this was the case for the other hotels we stayed at as well - not just the Sheraton.
The beach isn't a sliver of white sand, but compared to the other beaches we saw, it was very good. Wide at low tide with plenty of sand remaining at high tide. Plenty of palapas and chairs, both in the sand and on the grassy slope. Plus, the 8 oceanfront junior suites have their own loungers on the patio.
The pool area is decent for a small resort and they have numerous activities throughout the day. It can be loud, but going to the ends of the beach give you a quiet enough experience. Service at the bar was great, but the food service at the pool grill is disappointing - just some self serve nachos/pizza at lunch time, so your only real option is the buffet.
Food was very good for what I expected. At check-in, Masiel had already made reservations for us for one of the restaurants for each night so we didn't have to make reservations or rely on the buffet. The Japanese steakhouse was decent (the beef was bland, but seafood was excellent). The Italian restaurant had excellent seafood and pasta!
The club lounge is a beautiful space at the top of building 4 (the oceanfront building) which has an upgraded breakfast buffet and evening canapes. There were never more than 4 of us in there, so service was excellent, as was the food. Great place for an evening drink, watching the waves.
The beverage selections were high end, especially for price paid and the all-inclusive environment. The beer was Balboa, a great local brew, while the wines were solid and the liquors were good quality (the house vodka was Stoli). Drinks are served in a small serving size, but getting another drink was never a problem.
Overall, an excellent experience and I'd gladly go back. If you're just looking for sun and relaxation, you'll be fine here. If you need a lot to do, make sure to have a car - there's not much else to do right on the property.
