How a split fare on a direct flight will credit

This isn't really a question, but an experience. UA323 is PHL-DEN-YVR. I was originally booked on UA323 PHL-DEN in G and then a different flight from DEN-Canada. Due to irrops, I was rebooked in DEN onto UA323 DEN-YVR in Y.

The general rule for direct flights is that the mileage credit we receive doesn't take into account how many stops there are (so UA323 PHL-DEN-YVR would credit as though it were only PHL-YVR). When you have a split fare, as in my case (UA 323 PHL-DEN G, UA 323 DEN-YVR Y), it credits segment-by-segment. The more you know
