With the Hilton offer, I can't remember if any of the UK hotel will allow you to buy gift cards at reception or in their gift shop? (as opposed to the website which presumably won't activate the stay).

I do actually have a UK£ Hilton Gift Card on me at the moment but I don't know if it is possible to top it up at a hotel either, just to trigger the spend.
