While I am not steeped in 'intra oz aviation' as some, the clear sense I have taken from reading about JQ is that it is a LCC in the form of SleasyJet and RyanAir... to be avoided unless you are OK missing the trip. (not just delayed; not just a hassle; but a 'sorry, flight cancelled tough luck' kind of experience.)

While it may not happen every time, or even often- when it does the results can ruin the trip.

I have 9 flights coming up for a Oz trip and have studiously avoided JQ on ANY segment.

If you are from the USA, I dont think there is a US carrier that you can compare to...so rollerboad- do you research, this isnt just a simple choice...it can have significant impact on the honeymoon...
