depends on the winds of course for which direction the initial takeoff will be, but either way, there is very little chance you will cross north of manhattan and fly south over jersey on the way down. most likely they will fly south across eastern long island or down the east river to avoid JFK. In either case, you would want to be on the right side of the plane looking west towards NYC.
