What is your time worth? Not only is it a several hour drive each way, you risk as much as a 2 to 3 hour delay at the border. The delay hearded into the States is worse.
About 2 years ago we had in meeting in Vancouver. Flying to SEA was less. We rented a car in SEA and drove to Vancouver. We done there we took a bus back to SEA (buses don't lose much time at the border -- special lane).
Now if I had no need to be in Vancouver, I'd think twice about flying through there. A border incident and you could be seriously delayed. If time doesn't mean anything and you decide to go via Vancouver, spend some time there. It is a great city.
