Amex has made improvements with a lot of these issues. In the past if you did a pull payment from the wrong bank account their was no way to stop it and it would try multiple times no matter what you did. Now you have a little time to cancel and change. Your situation is auto pay so I am not sure but at least Amex is making improvements.
