Arriving into Melbourne T2 from Wellington on 23rd March at 19.00 on QF172. Onward flight to Adelaide on QF701 departs 20.15.
As I understand it I will need to retrieve my bags from the incoming flight, visit duty free, clear customs, find way to T1 for my Adelaide flight and complete the check in procedure that will include two checked bags plus carry-on.
Is the above sequence correct and if so have I allowed enough time? Also will the duty free carrier bag cause any issues for the internal flight (prob maxing out the alcohol allowance but nothing else).
Thanks
You ill be through checked, so you will have your boarding pass, you will just need to drop your bags off once you clear customs and quarantine.
Is this all on one booking/ticket?
I would have thought 1:15 is pushing it, particularly if on separate bookings, where there is no protection in the case of a misconnect.
I have been looking= but cannot find (I don't subscribe to EF) for the MCT for an online I-D transfer at MEL, but if both flights are on the one booking then QF will protect you in the case of a misconnect.
Having said that though, I know when I have been at MEL at that time of the night waiting for a flight back home, there haven't been a huge number of inbound international flights, so, given you will be arriving on a 737 (so not many passengers) your process through arrival formalities should be fairly quick.
No doubt others will be along to provide further input.
