Share Your Stories of Negotiating Long Stays at Homewood Suites

We're selling our house and expect to be in housing limbo for a couple of months before moving away from this area. Before renting a furnished / corporate apartment I want to see if we can camp at a local Homewood Suites, hopefully on a per-week basis (minimum 6 weeks I think).

  • Have you negotiated directly with on-site GMs or sales managers, or Hilton corporate? How'd it go?
  • What kind of discount against posted per-night rates is reasonable to try for?
  • Did you commit to a certain chunk of time? What was your endgame?
  • Did you get points / nights / stay credit or is that a negotiating point?

There's a Days Inn in the same catchment that is offering a $450 weekly rate, but that would be less attractive. Not quite the last resort though; THAT would be an Extended Stay America property, which in my (prior Priceline, in other locations admittedly) experience resembles a minimum-security prison.

Thanks is advance for any insight on HS.
