Seems so?

Today I redeemed an AMS-ZURICH-AMS award for Joh, as we are going to Rudi's Birthday Dooooo in Switzerland next week : Morgestraich-Do (Fasnacht: Basel, Monday, March-1st - 2004)

http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/Forum.../003399-2.html

Taxes for her was 52.92 Euros.

I booked a hour later for myself on KLM website also AMS-ZURICH-AMS ... the same flights coming back but did it in 2 bookings as I was playing around with the first leg.

Taxes were 27.05€ and 29.10€ totalling 56.15 Euros - or 3.23 Euro more for the same flights.

Anyone else noticed this on KLM or any other airline, and how can it be different?

To give a perfect illustration of just how insane these taxes are for a short little puddle hop to Zurich, we had another award ticket issued by KLM this week, which is darn near a round the world routing :

SYD-KUL-AMS-NBO-ZNZ(Zanzibar)-NBO-BKK-KUL-SYD.

Despite this massive amount of flying, and 4 continents being involved the TOTAL tax per person is only 102.395 EURO - or less than double that of the short AMS-Zurich.

Try and make it down to SYD for "OZ FEST 2004" - May 21-23
