I saw people trying to enter the TXL lounge with just a Star Alliance gold status card, which you put onto your bag. Since the card does neither states the validity period, nor expiration date of the status PLUS the boarding pass does not mention any status, the lounge dragon had a nice and calm talk with that fellow, but ultimately refused him entry.
