I called Tuesday morning and the agent told me he was crediting my account with 2. Wednesday morning I still did not see them in my account, so I called back. That agent first quoted the number of upgrades in my account as the figure without the partial credit, put me on hold for a long time, then told me they had definitely been added and he could see them in my account. As of this morning, they're still not there. I feel like he was just telling me whatever it took to get me off the line.

Keep in mind you are only seeing what is showing on AA.com and the AAgents see what's on the back-office systems. It does take time for them to sync the systems, so if they say they are there, then there is a good chance they are and just not propagated over for you to see.
No that's not to say some will make things up to get you off the phone and it will be tough to prove that. Keep good notes with names and dates that you speak with someone.
