I have nevwer been rejected by a scanner.....but then I never tried it in HAM, BRU or VIE...
If you do not have your status on the boarding pass you will be rejected by the automatic gates. Generally an agent is sitting next to the gate so you need to show your card. This has been a big frustration for the frequent travellers travelling on the 4U routes in particular in Hamburg
