I booked mine out of my account and it all went fine. Then we tried booking his award out of his account, paying with my CC (he doesn't have a CC), but it keeps giving me this error:

Tried various cards, but it's always the same. Is there some sort of issue if the CC is not in the account holder's/traveler's name?

I've been running into this for the past couple of weeks. Enter CC number to finalize the reservation, and then get the fail message.
When I go back to the flight schedule, the flight I tried to book on miles is gone. But it shows up later. I finally called in and made my reservation. The rep. had no idea why the website lists flights that you cannot book. She couldn't see the particular flight I wanted but was able to book another EX flight that worked for me.
A few days later, EF notified me two F seats were available on another flight the day I was flying out. I called in, and they switched us to the flight with 1st class. So all ended well. Now if I could just find a flight to get us back from Manila....
