Interesting story, I just wonder if the trouble is worth it. I never experienced this kind od adventure but let me give another side to the medal.

I live part time in Switzerland, part time in Atlanta. I make about 4 trips a month and always rent a car to get home.

Nothing is more frustrating than to arrive at the desk after 9 hours or more of flying just to find out that the car you reserved is not available because some guy did not respect his rental agreement and kept the car longer. What is even more frustrating is to see a lot of cars standing around, all reserved but not picked-up on time.

I know for a fact that Alamo, for instance always tries to accomodate you and they really go out of their way sometimes, but there is a limit to everything. Don't ask for 5 Star service if you are only ready to pay for 1 Star service.
Just for your information: I cannot resist to laugh for the trouble you take for such a paltry sum. Try to rent a car for that price in Europe..... You were getting a pretty good deal, so the least you should have done was being on time.

Sorry to be so harsh.
