I do find it quite strange that this day in age, they still run with those VHS tapes on some aircraft. It's essentially a standard home VHS player sitting in the cabinet, if you've ever walked by and noticed... for about 50 bucks per plane they could order some kind of USB digital video player off of Amazon and connect it to the existing wiring.
Except it would have to be FAA approved so the $50 digital player would be $10,000 in a FAA approved version.
