The F seat in 'bed' mode is big enough to have a 18month old with you. LH crew love children, you should have no snooty behaviour from the crew.

FCT plan will work, I have been in C with our boys and got my wife an award ticket in F. We enjoyed the FCL together and she was in F and visited us a few times during the flight.
