In Ipanema I recommend the beachfront Caesar Park Hotel. I avoid going to Copacabana because it's overly crowded.
The wife and kids stayed at the Marina Palace last October (because it had a triple room) and it had deteriorated even more. I walked in the Marina Suites and was not impressed with the old lobby nor the old restaurant, I canceled the reservation.
I'm returning to the Promenade Palladium, my new address in Rio. :-:
