Could you clarify what the Platinum happy hour consists of? Last year (my last stay was in December), Plats were given unlimited drinks from a specific menu, plus unlimited tapas bar. More recent reports said that the policy is now one drink per person per night, and no tapas bar.

I agree with your assessment -- huge suite, pleasant surroundings, but IMO not a compelling airport hotel, and not an option for anyone wishing to sightsee in Bangkok. Considering that the hotel forces a choice between points and breakfast, it's already uncompetitive with several (most of the?) SPG properties in Bangkok, and if the "club" benefit is curtailed, it's hard to see why anyone would stay here.
