The friends and family traveling on passes should use that venue and the
employee sponsor should not just abandon his recipients to asking ???s
on other forums such as this. The revenue side of the travel equation has
enough quirks as it is and to answer employee standby questions here is
nuts. After all the employee non-revs board well after the revenue elite

It is nice that Delta like other airlines allows their employees travel
opportunities but these become conflicting competing issues between forums !
I am the parent of an employee and my wife and I utilize pass privileges. The feedback I'm providing is accurate.
Delta does not have an internet forum as you suggest.
DeltaNet is only accessible to Authorized Users and requires a User ID and Password. It is Delta's internal web site for employee communication.
Employee parents are not Authorized to access the site or to do their own bookings. The only publicly available data are brief Etiquette and Procedure Guides for Buddy Pass Riders.
Parents, as pass riders, must be managed by the employee. The employee must have them authorized as Pass Riders, do the bookings, handle any issues such as rebookings when the parent(s) can't get on the flight they're listed for, etc. Because of issues like this, many employees discourage nonrev travel by their pass riders when they are not part of the travel group and can't manage problems on the spot. Parents are not high up the nonrev priority, they are just above Buddy Pass riders.
This is all information that the OP should be getting from their child. If they aren't, there are probably larger issues that they have.
There is a forum where information about nonrev travel on Delta is provided and questions answered by present and former employees. The URL is
http://nonrev.net/delta-air-lines/
