OP: With rare exceptions, food on cruise ships, spaceships, and airplanes will not compare to the great (or really good) restaurants in any community. Transportation companies sell travel options. Food is secondary. Restaurants usually die if they don't serve good food.

I long ago set my expectations low for travel food. It is a coping strategy that sometimes makes me pleasantly surprised.
