I think a call to the credit card company to "stop payment" using the "fraud" tagline would be in order, and should be done immediately - although normally with most cards you have up to 1 year from the date of purchase. You used the credit card to purchase goods/services that you will not receive...therefore the credit card company should credit your account and chargeback the merchant (airline). After the credit is confirmed as permanent (usually 30-60 days to give the merchant time to respond), then you can send a "FU" letter to the airline and thank them for their friendly treatment of your inquiry.
