Or how about taking the train to Montreux (1 hr.) and then the train to Gstaad (1 hr. 20 min.)? The mountains are wonderful, and the view of Lake Geneva from the train (narrow-gauge, rack railway) almost as stunning as from Martigny to Chamonix.
