I guess the question is - is amex going to offer more attractive credit cards to lure in new customers and keep existing ones? I'm afraid not.

Apart from the signup bonus (which is more or less once a lifetime), collecting MR is relatively:
1. difficult: 3x 'normal' points at best across all cards.
2. frustrating: 30 transaction thing on EDP is so frustrating. Plus, the fact that 3x category is capped at such a low number 6k for a AF card.

Then you look over at other program:
A. UR: you shower in points with Freedom + CS/P + Ink (AF: 95)
B. TYP: you shower in points with Prestige/Premier + Access More + Forward (if you got grandfathered) (AF: 199)

The best part is, you can make enough to pay off those AF just from your couch. Just pay your rent & bills and you're done.
