The US and HK has fairly liberal laws regarding the aviation industry, so 48 hours should be more than sufficient for a flight connecting JFK and HKG. I remember a client took us from FRA to VNY once with 5 hours notice, so flight plans aren't typically a problem.
Oh that's good to know, when I'm told I need to fly 13,000km to Asia with 48 hours prior notice I'll just casually spend precious moments of my time calling the necessary people to find me a private jet to have it flown to HKG (with no guarantee that I'll actually have a jet) or I could click on the Cathay website to buy my flight which means I'm guaranteed to fly out. I still don't understand how my time is worth this hassle not to just buy the 30k F ticket on CX if I have last minute travel. Do you see how its easier to now book that flight on the Cathay website?
