I'd really like to see how fast you can find a G650, charter it, call the flight crew, and file flight plans from JFK to HKG. Private jets aren't exactly feasible for last minute travel, hence why the 30K F ticket makes more sense. Most companies have eliminated their private jet fleet to save money because its much cheaper to fly their execs on commercial flights. If you pay enough $$$, you can have all the flexibility in the world.
The US and HK has fairly liberal laws regarding the aviation industry, so 48 hours should be more than sufficient for a flight connecting JFK and HKG. I remember a client took us from FRA to VNY once with 5 hours notice, so flight plans aren't typically a problem.
