LIS-AKL was the longest route I could find between to major cities... but there's a couple more I came up with (just for grins):

UUD-PUQ is 12323mi
VLL-WLG is 12405mi (!!)

Of course, UUD and PUQ are fairly small and remote cities, with no chance of EVER becoming a route. And currently WLG's runway is too short for long haul aircraft. So LIS/AKL are the only cities capable of sustaining such a route... although still unlikely.

LHR-SYD and LHR-AKL are the best bets of becoming routes years down the road... when longer range planes are available.
