I agree about the train option. The Deutsche Bundesbahn has service from Berlin-Prague on the EC. Great service and fast.

When I lived in Germany in the early 90s, I took the train most places except long haul. A great way to see the countryside and center to center journeys. No add to the equation security and the balance is easily in favour of European rail.
