You are working up to gold, gold for next year. So now you only have earn 15K EQM this year to maintain gold. (Or 40K EQM if you want Platinum.)

It looks like (unless I'm reading it wrong) you seem to think that buying up to Gold gives you the 25K for this year, this is not the case. The buying up simply pays for last year's difference in earned EQM.
