Booking an adult fare for a child (Scandinavian Airlines)
Hi all - not sure where to post this.
SAS has a crazy offer right now in March from LAX to ARN (Stockholm) for $87 one way. That same price was at $99 one way, and at one point last night, it even dropped to $49 one way (inclusive of taxes and fees).
I went to the SAS website, I tried to book 1 adult ticket and 2 children tickets (6 and 9 yrs old). The child fare is $285.90, while the adult price is $87.
Last year, I had a similar situation with Emirates where the child fare was more expensive than the adult fare. Acc. to Emirates, it's up to me to book the adult fare for my kids, I did so, and it was a non-issue at the airport.
What's preventing me from booking my kids as adults this time around, when I had to enter their date of birth, the dropdown for the year only goes down as far as 2004. My 2 kids were born 2009 and 2006. Since this is not a mistake fare, I called SAS, and the rep could not offer me a workaround other than child fare is not the same as adult fare.
