I'd be comfortable requesting an uber at 5a in your case. As yuropflyer suggests, taxis are a pretty reliable fallback option. In terms of peoples v x, I end up getting peoples more than 95% of the time. I usually don't notice any difference in terms of car quality, and while it's true that x drivers are often a little more knowledgeable, I think this difference is greatly overstated. Taxi drivers are still leaps and bounds better than both (in terms of street smarts, that is). In any event, pvg isn't exactly difficult to find, so this point matters not in your case.
