I am flying MCI-DFW-AUH-AMM. Original connection in AUH was ~4 hours getting me into AMM at 2AM. I have a non-refundable hotel booked in Amman already.
Schedule change yesterday to the AMM flight, it now leaves at 10:30AM, meaning I have a 14 hour layover, forcing an overnight. There are no alternate travel options.
This is an AA award but in First, but due to the forced overnight, is requesting for Etihad to pay for/book hotel on our layover a reasonable thing? Or do I need to pursue AA for this? Any DOT regs or anything that apply here?
I just called EY yesterday since my flight was changed also, but only for 45 minutes (also AA award in First). They allow change of itinerary if;
A. The rescheduled flight leaves more then 4 hours later then planned
B. or if the flight forces a transit time of more then 8 hours on the airport
So by these rules you would be entitled to a free change. Maybe call the EY desk in your country to double check and find out what alternatives there are. Then call AA to ask for the itinerary you discussed with EY.
