From my visit in May 2015: the best meal of our trip was at Foliage in Franschhoek. This is a chef-driven place, astonishingly inexpensive for the wonderful food and service quality, and of course with amazing wine. (It's located adjacent to an art gallery and displays some of their pieces--we were so taken by the paintings and sculptures that we went back the next day to see the rest of the gallery, and two of us ended up buying major items!). We also ate (with a reservation made just a few days in advance) at Test Kitchen in CPT--good, but not super memorable. Very crowded and bustling. If you don't know where you're going, it's a little tough to find since it's inside a small shopping center, with no sign at the street.
