I understand what you are saying Lan44 as I also tend to get antsy waiting for the TG FCL escort. When the gate is far away and they collect you for the tarmac bus there is not much of a choice unless you want the long walk. At a closer gate it is really straightforward finding the departure area. I just tell them I am going for a walk to stretch my legs before the flight.

FWIW the thought is to have F pax board last and spend less time on the plane. Personally I would rather get on board and get settled and relax.
