If Diners ever had bonus categories for spend, that would be a very good path. But I do not recall ever seeing any. Still, for unbonused spend where you plan to transfer to WN in a future year (for example, once you have the CP), Diners is possibly worth considering. And their car rental insurance (primary; your insurance company is never contacted) is as good as any. But Diners is not as good as it used to be, comparatively.
Chase Ink at OfficeMax/Depot/Staples for 5x UR is my go-to method. There are lots of useful gift cards there, including Amazon. And it even pays IMO to buy the $200 Visa/Amex/MC GCs, eating the 3.5% fee, to use for unbonused spend. But paying a $3000 bill with 15 $200 GCs tends to irk your suppliers.
