Question Is using Miles and Cash to upgrade worth it or a bad deal?
Is upgrading to J with Miles & Cash a bad deal? I’m looking at upgrading my Mom’s trip to CDG this summer. The price to upgrade seems pretty darn close to just outright buying a P fare.

Y with upgrade in both directions:
1200 + 550 + (20,000 *.019 = 380) + 550 + (20,000 *.019 = 380) = $3,080.
Cost of P fare is currently $3,700.

Saving $700 is not nothing, but totaling >$3k for an Econ + upgrade seems pretty steep. I’m used to finding deals in the Premium Mileage Run forum, so I haven’t ever paid more than $2k for a TATL in J. On the reasonable side, this is a direct flight to CDG in peak season, which is extremely unlikely to ever show up on the Deals forum.
