Awfully high horses there... Kind of reminds me of the guy, shortly after the merger, who at LAX pushed past the waiting group 1 line and said to everyone he moved past, "I get to board ahead of all you fancy folks because I have a kid!" Yes, we applauded when the GA turned him away, saying, "I'm sorry; UA doesn't pre-board children."

As I've said upthread, I have no issue if UA did this correctly: enforcing the 2 year old age limit and providing assistance as necessary to stow strollers, etc., and that 1 bag goes under, 1 above, not everything crammed in the overhead, etc.

But UA is UA and cannot seem to accomplish that correctly.

As far as that goes, no one subsidizes my travel; I'm a 1K 100% on personal spend. And no, it's not "just" a 5 minute delay getting on board. When in Group 1 I now have to show up at the gate 20+ minutes early just to get a place in line to hope to have overhead space--and pray I'm not on a delayed connection that means I get there in the middle of group 2 or 3 boarding--there's something wrong.

I don't even book seats I used to always travel in, like bulkhead E+ or exit row seats, knowing that by the time I get there the overheads are full. Heck, these days I am worried that even the F bins will be full by the time I get on board in group 1!

Toss on UA not enforcing their 2 year age check and allowing extended families to board, and it's a nightmare. I won't fly anywhere near airports which are guaranteed to have abuse (MCO, for example), and likely won't fly on family-heavy days due to the failures we're already seeing.
