I'd guess you can avoid paying sales tax on a new car, but most states will want you to pay tax on at least the value of the now-used car.

Mrs. Xyzzy wants to get our next car on a European delivery plan but from what I can see the difference between the dealer discount and the fixed European delivery program rates are more than the cost of the vacation and a car rental. Has anyone done the math?
