BA won't compensate you for lost pay but you do have rights under EC261. First is the duty of care, which requires BA to provide and pay for hotel rooms, meals, etc. during the delay. Secondly they may owe you 600 Euros for the delay. My understanding is that damage to the aircraft during the previous flight does not qualify as an exceptional circumstance which would render them exempt, but I'm sure others who are more expert on these rules will offer their opinions.
