Just curious: How do people feel about the "house wine or beer/soft drink" restriction some properties have?

Personally I was rather irritated by the "as a valued Platinum guest, you're entitled to a small glass of our rather nasty house wine at $6/glass, but any of the dozen drinkable wines at $8/glass are off limit" statement.

Allowing guests to choose any (standard) drink off the menu doesn't sound like a ridiculous expectation. Ok, one could make an argument regarding the cost of real champagne, but even a glass of real (mid-range) champagne would hardly cost the hotel more than $5.
