"Cathay Pacific initially refused to accept her complaint but when it realized the seriousness of the mistake, it arranged for Hong’s return flight to Taiwan on Eva Air on Feb. 4, the report said.

Also, Cathay Pacific apologized for its negligence and offered her its VIP lounge on her next overseas trip.

Taiwan’s Aviation Police Bureau said its staff are responsible only for checking the date on a boarding pass, not the name.

Meanwhile, airport authorities said immigration officers only check to make sure passengers have valid passports and visas."

Doesn't CX scan ALL BPs to board pax? Doesn't those machines serve as a security measure to make sure people not supposed to be on the flight gets screened and alerted? Gosh, air travel just go a lot unsafe.

Taiwan Aviation Police - they only check dates and not names.... ah... no wonder so many "most wanted/travel restricted" by Taiwan government can sneak out of Taiwan at will.

Taiwan Airport Immigration - they only check valid passports and visas. So the airport police only checks the date, the immigration only checks validity of passports and visas. Nobody bothers to check the names.... urgh....
