Just wanted to update the forum with my experience of the AMEX Global Transfer system.

I have a UK issued British Airways card which I've had for 3-4yrs, with a £10K limit. I made one call to Amex USA (with a number provided by Amex UK) and had a conversation with a specialist from the global transfer team. FYI they are West coast based.

You need to have the following:
USA Address
USA telephone number (cell or landline)
USA Bank Account for address verification

You don't need a SSN or Tax number. They called my bank and verified my identity and address on a 3-way conf call.

The agent arranged for me to have a Preferred Amex Gold Card within about 10 mins and confirmed approval. She also added a card for my partner. I also qualified for the sign up bonus MR points and no card fee for 12 months. I can also confirm that ALL amex cards (charge/credit) are reported to the 3 x credit ref agencies, so you can chose the one that suits you best.

All in all, excellent and very easy to do if you have the info needed.
