I was just in SA in December but did not spend much time in Franschoek. If you have a car, Paarl is a short drive away and I spent a good amount of time there. Fairview wine and cheese is a great place to check out, along with the spice route.

As for actual restaurants, had great food/experience at Noop for dinner, Cafe Juno for breakfast.

Laborie Wine Farm also had some great food.
