Seems like it should be included in the price of the room.</font>
The hotel is under no obligation to provide storage for your personal effects that do not fit in the room. Further, as has been pointed out repeatedly, it costs the hotel money to provide real estate for vehicle storage. Consider that if the hotel were to remove what is now 3 parking spaces, and build a room there instead, the hotel would get much more revenue per night for the space as a room than it will for the 3 parking spaces. At $26 a night the hotel is practically giving the space away. A counting of blessings is in order.
As difficult as it is for me to sympathize I, being the practical person that I am, offer the following suggestions:
- Rent something other than an SUV. If you switch from an SUV to a compact or mid-size, the hotel parking could very well pay for itself (not to mention the savings in gas).
- Figure out what it would cost to rent a vehicle only on the days you need one. (There are other ways to get from Richmond to DC.) Then you won't have to pay for hotel parking and you won't have to pay to rent a vehicle that isn't doing anything for days at a time, either.
