That sort of info is what makes a difference in these circumstances. I'd like to think that the crew explained the roles of staff on the aircraft so that OP knew he was talking to the most appropriate person, rather then wondering why the (non-existent) person he wanted was refusing to pop by. 5k Avios to OP if they didn't !
