Do not cancel, neither via phone nor on the web - just be no-show. Since you haven't checked-in no body will come looking for you.
Won't be a problem if you don't make a habit out of it.
if you cancel the airline can sell the seat to someone else, possibly someone desperately wanting to get on that flight!
