1) Because I've done the search myself already, so was speaking matter of fact

2) Not all *A airlines make their flights available on each other's sites. Good luck trying to book JFK-PEK on CA via UA's website, for example.

3) I imagine UA doesn't want to be showing prices that are much cheaper than their own flights on the same route (e.g. NYC-OSL in the summer is far cheaper on SK metal than UA)

Just a few reasons / thoughts!
