I'd argue that for UA Golds and above the Amex Plat makes more sense than the UC card. Domestic UCs are too busy, and Internatinal Gold offers more lounges anyways. Centurion lounges are nicer (albeit increasingly crowded), Priority Pass more numerous and Boingo is icing.
I looked at Amex Plat, but wasn't convinced. No Centurion lounges at the domestic airports I frequent. ORD/EWR primarily. And the priority pass offerings at these airports are not accessible. (Intl terminals, etc).
For the ~$250 versus ~$35, I don't see the value.
If I was transiting SFO/LAS...sure.
