Not much more than the usual Vegas/Xmas lighting for New Years (spent the last 2 there but will not make this year due to family illness) but last year there was a spectacular fireworks show in which most of the major casinos/properties on the strip participated in. The snycronized fireworks started at one end and ran the full length of the strip. The other "light show" takes place at Fremont station the downtown enclosed arcade. Note though to get into Fremont you have to get there early like 600/700pm because the area is closed when the crowd reaches about 25k (and it will)

Vegas is great for New Years because of the time zone you can watch the ball drop in New York get dressed and head out to your bash. It was particularly great for the Millenium
where got to watch the TV spectacular before our party.

One other thing of note most of Las Vegas Blvd is fenced off from the sidewalks to keep the crowds (by midnight very drunk and very rowdy)in the streets you will NOT be able get into any casinos unless you show a room key, in other words ITS THE STREET OR YOUR OWN HOTEL
Mike
