I am indulging in a weekend break in Paris this weekend and trying to decide between the Renaissance Vendome and the Westin Vendome.

I lived in Paris for a couple of years (in the 16th Arr) and so this quick trip isn't about visiting the usual tourist sites. However, I am planning to do some photography along the river (daytime and evening), so that is one of the reasons I'm choosing between the Vendome area hotels. I also expect to do a little shopping in the grands magasins, explore the Marais again, etc.

I know that both hotels have fairly small rooms, which isn't an issue for me because I'm travelling alone. I have Gold status with both Marriott and SPG - but I think that status gets me a little further with Marriott (e.g., free breakfast). I have a lot more Marriott points than SPG points, so for that reason I'm tilting a little toward the Marriott).

Does anyone a recommendation one way or the other? Thanks
